July 2022: Women and Swords

July's meeting for GVWI was in person and interactive!

Long time member and friend, Steph Holt, and her partner (Reece) from the 1595 (Historical sword re-enactment) club first gave us a fascinating talk about the evolution of sword design, then one half of the group were allowed to practice with wooden swords and the others got to hold items from Steph's own collection, before swopping round. Finally, Steph and Reece gave a slow motion demonstration - it being too hot to wear the safety wear, and actually very interesting to see slowed down.

It was a wonderful evening which began with congrats to Danyel for passing an exam that day and to Becca on her wedding - and everyone went home with all their fingers and toes!
