All individual WIs and Federations belong to the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI).
NFWI is responsible for policies that span all WIs. Most importantly, it campaigns (link to the below) on behalf of issues chosen by members at its AGM.
Founded in 1915, the WI is approaching its centenary, and Gothic Valley is part of its drive to have 250,000 members by 2015.
It’s important to GVWI that the WI is non-partisan and non-party political, but that it takes a great interest in issues of import to us. It is also specifically inclusive of women of all backgrounds, including the LGBT community.
The NFWI also runs Denman College, the WI’s residential college where members and guests can learn anything from how to bake a Victoria sponge to knitting a sweater to yoga or how to start a business.
