|1||HP welcomed the meeting. Everyone introduced themselves and HP welcomed new members and visitors.|
|2||Matters arising– Gillian spoke briefly about the proposed professional development workshops and asked for ideas on specific subjects. A survey will be coming out shortly and Gillian encouraged all members to respond.|
|3||Website writeup- Julia volunteered to do a brief write up of this meeting for the website.|
|4||GVWI News– 96 FB ‘likes’ (+5), 89 FB group members and 460 (+54) Twitter followersHolly reminded the group that we are taking suggestions for the 2014 programme of events. Anyone with ideas should add them to the GDoc (link is in the monthly newsletter). Sue, Kathryn, Yvette, Daisy and Lily previously volunteered to help shortlist.
Holly asked for volunteers to organise the Halloween party.
|5||Treasurer’s UpdateGVWI has about £600 in the bank account to be used for educational programmes and pin badges. Holly thanked Fran for the amazing pin badge design. Pin badges are available free to paid up GVWI members and are also available for sale at £3.|
|6||Campaigns and local initiatives–Gillian spoke briefly about the new campaigns subgroup. Julia, Val and Gillian form the new subgroup. GVWI is now officially a campaigning organisationThe September meeting will focus on the resolution passed at the NFWI AGM.|
|7||Around the WIs– Elin gave a brief report from the NFWI Annual General Meeting. There is a new NFWI Chair, Janice Langley. 500 new members are joining the WI each week. The resolution to support local high streets was passed with 5266 votes for and 758 against. Anne Harrison, the Denman delegate, reported that the financial situation has improved, but is still tenuous. Several shorter courses have been added and members are strongly encouraged to book courses at Denman.|
|8||Upcoming events–In lieu of a regular meeting in August, GVWI will be having a picnic in Hampstead Heath on Sunday, 11 August at 2pm. Meeting point is just south of Kenwood House. All welcome.The group meeting is being organised by GVWI this year and will be on Wednesday, 25 September at 7pm. We are thrilled to announce that the special entertainment will be provided by Professor Elemental of chap hop fame.
BiblioGoth is reading Charlie Stross’ ‘The Jennifer Morgue’ and will be having another picnic in Highgate Woods on Sunday, 7 July at 2pm.
CultureGoth is going to the William Morris Gallery on Sunday, 14 July at 2pm.
|9||Correspondence– Members received copies of June’ Middlesex news.WI 2013 Raffle tickets on sale now and will be available at each monthly meeting through August.|
|10||Holly encouraged visitors to join the GVWI. Members get a raft of benefits, including getting free pin badges and jam.Yvette invited everyone to come to the Stroud Green WI meeting on Monday, 17 June.Catherine is talking to the Borough Belles WI on Wednesday, 19 June.|

|Elin introduced the guest speaker, David Farrant. David is a psychic investigator and the President of the British Psychic and Occult Society and has written a book title ‘Beyond the Highgate Vampire’.|
|David talked about his experiences in Highgate in the 1970s.|
